Collaborations
1. CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL), Pune
CSIR-NCL is a science and knowledge based research, development and consulting organization situated in Pune offering selected scientific services to industries like Contract Research, Consultancy and Technical Services. CSIR-NCL also undertakes short term R & D projects for emerging market needs.
The various investigational new drugs of RBPL were analysed to elucidate its physico-chemical properties like Surface morphology, particle size, charge, melting point, etc. and it reconfirmed the presence of nano structures in selected batches.
2. Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (CMET), Pune
CMET is an institution under Department of Electronics & Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Government of India. CMET carries out research and development on electronic materials and their processing keeping in view the development in the electronics and IT industry all over the world.CMET provides sophisticated material characterization and testing services like Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDAX), Dynamic light scattering (DLS), zeta potential, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD),Transmission electron microscopy(TEM) etc. for the industry.
Many facets of Physical characterization were explored in CMET and application of nano materials in other fields like sensors / nano drug carrier in drug delivery, etc. are studied for potential use in these fields. Joint projects are also being submitted to the target funding agencies for further the work in nano applications.
3. The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune
NCCS is an autonomous organization aided by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. National Cell Repository and the preclinical studies are the core strength of NCCS. Further NCCS has been at the forefront of basic research in diverse fields of cell biology, especially those addressing paramount human health issues like cancer, metabolic and infectious diseases, and regenerative medicine.
The research at NCCS is focused on answering challenging questions through approaches that integrate modern and conventional disciplines, including computational and structural biology, genomics and proteomics, stem cell biology, immunology and microbiology.
The Investigational New drugs being developed in RBPL for treating various ailments including cancers undergo exhaustive battery of pre-clinical testing including cell line based in vitro work. Our company has been working closely with NCCS for sourcing cancer cell lines, using varied facilities and interacting with scientific community to explore mechanism of actions of the drugs. After completing the basal experimental work at RBPL, a more nuanced advanced studies were carried out using NCCS facilities.
4. Sir Parashurambhau College (S P College), Pune
SP College, Pune is a premier educational Institute in Pune established in 1916 as a New Poona College. It has an expertise and sophisticated infrastructure suitable for research activities in pre- clinical studies. S P College has developed experimental models (in vitro and in vivo) which are suitable for screening various drugs under investigation within a short span of time.
One of the scientifically accepted models for drug testing is Chick Embryo Yolk Sac Membrane (YSM). RBPL has utilized this model for many pipeline drugs for exploring their probable mechanism of action and to draw on this experience to design more critical in vivo experiments.
5. The Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), Mumbai
ACTREC is the state-of-the-art R&D satellite of the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), which also includes under its umbrella the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) the largest cancer hospital in Asia. ACTREC has the mandate to function as a national centre for treatment, research and education in cancer. ACTREC comprises of 2 arms – one for basic research and another for clinical research. ACTREC has a 100-bed hospital fully equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic facilities. Research investigations currently focus on molecular mechanisms responsible for causation of major human cancers relevant to India.
Our company has selected ACTREC as one of the clinical trial site for its candidate drugs on cancer and is also working on other research streams using in vitro / in vivo models for generating proof of concept for new drugs.
