About Dr. Padma Shastry
She joined the Immunology department of CVTC KEM hospital at Parel, Bombay. Then she worked as a Principal Scientist (ex-Scientist G) at National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS earlier known as N.F.A.T.C.C.), Pune.
Her research interests are in cancer biology and currently her projects are focused on understanding and studying drug resistance/ sensitivity in gliomas using different experimental models.
She also has a keen interest in stem cell biology with focus on directing human bone marrow stem cells towards neuronal lineage and understanding the mechanisms involved.
She has worked on projects related to Malaria and Fungal Lectins as potential tools for anti-cancer activity. She is a recognized guide to S. P. Pune University for PhD in Zoology and Biotechnology.
She has actively participated in teaching programs of MSc (Biotech) Pune University for PhD course work and Refresher’s courses. She has functioned as PhD examiner for different universities.
